School of Acting

Hello, my name is Roosevelt Green. I was born in sunny San Diego, California. From a young age, I’ve always had an active imagination, so acting seemed like the most natural path for me to take. Growing up, I’ve had the privilege of having loving parents support me on my career path. Their encouragement has been a key factor in my journey. My first acting experience was in high school. I fell in love with theatre, and I knew that acting was something I was meant to do. As I delved deeper into the craft, I realized that portraying different people allowed me to see new sides of who I am. Fully embodying other people their thoughts, feelings, and experiences has always fascinated me. When I was a kid, I would reenact specific scenes or put in my verbal dialogue whenever I watched my favorite Movie, Play, or TV show. It made me feel like I was part of the story. One of the actors who has always inspired me is Denzel Washington; he just fits in every role he plays and is a person who’s just down-to-earth and stays true to himself. I admire that. Seeking a change of scenery, I moved to the Bay Area to pursue an MFA in Acting at the Academy of Art University. This was my first time leaving home and living on my own, and it’s been quite a journey. Throughout my time in the Bay Area, I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself not only in the theatre but also in the world of filmmaking. Seeing myself on camera every semester has been surreal, and it’s been an eye-opening experience. One funny thing about me is that I’ve lived in California my whole life, yet people say I have a different accent or dialect. But I take it as a compliment, after all some actors are versatile. As I’m set to graduate from the Academy of Art University this year, I’m excited to continue my journey in the world of acting. For me, acting is more than just a craft; it’s about exploring the complexities of humanity and connecting with others through storytelling. I’m looking forward to where this path will take me next and the incredible opportunities that lie ahead. I’m filled with gratitude for the experiences that shaped me and everybody who has supported me on this journey.
