I am a passionate advocate for childhood creativity enhancing learning and healthy development. As a painter, I bring my expertise and excitement to my Art classroom, creating a rich educational experience for my students. Currently, I am seeking to improve my skills as both a teacher and an artist by pursuing a Master’s in Arts Education with the Academy of Art University.
Landscape Lesson Plan Inspiration:
In developing a curriculum Unit for Elementary Students, I wanted to create lessons that explored the emotional connection between ourselves and our favorite places. My piece, entitled “Hopeful Horizons,” was inspired by my favorite outdoor scene and the joy I gain from driving by it daily. This lesson explores creating meaningful landscapes for high school students and savoring the beauty outdoor places provide.
Still Life Lesson Plan Inspiration:
I’ve always adored the work of Dutch still-life painters. The complexity, the textures, the often-unanswered questions they provoke. In my piece “Dahlia Daze,” I wanted to explore the emotional connection between ourselves and our favorite things. My piece was inspired by my favorite flowers and foods, all captured within a warm color palette. Adapting this for Elementary Students, my lesson focuses on featuring the students’ favorite items in a way that teaches the core elements of a successful still life, all while including important pieces from their lives.
