I was born and raised in Myanmar. I’ve always been deeply influenced by the rich fashion heritage of my people, the Mizos from Myanmar and India. We’re an ethnic group from the hills, also known as the Chin people, with our own language, customs, and traditional attire. My senior thesis collection is about celebrating our artisans and their exceptional craftsmanship, particularly in fabric weaving, basketry, and headgear. Our traditional pieces stand out for being made from natural materials sourced from the environment.

The “Vakiria” headgear holds a special place in my heart, with its intricate elements like Job’s tear seed beads, which evoke fond childhood memories. Growing up, these natural beads were a rare treasure, and I’m eager to incorporate them into my designs. For inspiration, I explored Mizo art especially women as subject and traditional Mizo crafts. These influences have shaped my unique prints, featuring motifs inspired by artisanal weaving, working women, and basket storages.
