Yvette Richard

Jewelry & Metal Arts / Master of Arts (MA)

School of Jewelry & Metal Arts

Yvette Richard earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and Dance from San Francisco State University. After graduation, she moved to the Island of Maui
with her future husband, where she spent many years as a dancer and dance teacher. In her spare time she also pursed her love of metal arts. Yvette Richard’s first memory of working in metal was in the 8th grade where she attended Marina Middle School in San Francisco. Of the 24 students in her class, she was the only girl amongst them. There she made her first tool box, hammer, can opener and a lifelong love of tools and metal! When Yvette relocated to the Islands, she discovered the Hui’Noeau, a visual arts center on Maui that helped to rekindle her love of working with metal. There
she learned the art of Jewelry making. She learned how to forge and form, carve in wax and learned the art of lost wax casting. With her two sons now teenagers and more independent, she now is pursuing her Masters Degree in Metal Arts and Jewelry Design. Her future aspirations are
to design heirloom quality jewelry pieces that families can cherish for generations.
