Hello my name is Alicia Calderon and I am a cinematographer. I am from Long Beach, California and currently in my third year at the Academy. My inspiration comes from my love of working with cameras. From an early stage in life I always knew I had a love for art. Experimenting with different fields of art I finally found a calling in photography. Photography allowed me to fall in love with cameras, being able to take stunning photos and even learn about black and white film. As high school was coming to an end my parents didnāt believe that photography was a āreal jobā. I was determined to find a āreal jobā that not only fit their idea of a job but also had to do with cameras. Which is when I stumbled upon the idea of becoming a cinematographer. I then decided to throw myself into this career path, really going all in on my passion and love for cameras, transitioning from photography to cinematography. I quickly realized that although I knew things about photography, I still had a lot to learn about filmmaking. I have grown so much from the time I first started shooting at the Academy, being able to learn about lighting and camera setups that I have gained so much knowledge and grown my passion for cameras even more than when I first started.
