Fine Art – Painting / Master of Fine Arts (MFA)

School of Fine Art

As an artist deeply influenced by the passion filled students surrounding me, my work seeks to portray the canvas as an emotional outlet. With over 30 years of experience in public art education, a rich background in studio practice, and founder of an art driven charity, One World One Canvas, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative and therapeutic power of art in helping curtail stress and keep negative emotions in check.
In this series, Figures Alive, I show the beauty of the figure combined with the emotional reality of humanity. My creative process involves blending a classical painting approach with contemporary expressive techniques. Dreamer playfully portrays visions dancing in her head as she lounges in the sun, while Back Emerging almost births him out of the canvas in angst. The idea is to use composition, exaggerated color temperature, edge control and handling of media to give occasionally flawed mood to an often perfect subject matter.
