Hey! I’m Ashlyn Minchew, aka Ash, and I’m a writer and director. I was born and raised in Springdale, Arkansas. Not Ar-Can-Sas. My background has absolutely nothing to do with film or being creative besides my high schools video creation class. I had every plan to play college basketball and become physical therapist, but switched to culinary to fulfill someone else’s dream. Eventually, I decided to live for myself and make another jump.
When I needed a break from my reality, I would find my escape in films and music videos. I fell in love with Mimi Leder’s “Pay It Forward”. Yes, it was sad, but it was impactful. My love for music videos really started with Hayley Kiyoko’s “Girls Like Girls”. The meaning basically tells the viewer that it’s ok to be whoever you are and at the time that’s what I needed. That’s when it clicked that I wanted to create the thing that allows someone else to escape from their reality.
Overall, I just want to create, express myself, and leave some kind of impact.
